NMERI, an engineering research laboratory sponsored by the University of New Mexico, serves as an incubator for technology transfer. The complex is organized in three wings, administration and conference, research offices and labs, and conventional offices, all surrounding a central courtyard. The largest lab contains a Russian "Topaz" nuclear reactor, the power source for the Russian space station, which is used for on-going research.
