Jones Hall Science and Technology Building Addition
New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology
Socorro, New Mexico
1998
93,000 SF
$6,800,000

Jones Hall houses the Chemistry Department in an outmoded building suffering from mechanical and space deficiencies.  The addition includes space for Chemistry along with entirely new Biology and Environmental Engineering Departments.  It contains a combination of teaching and research labs, classrooms and faculty and graduate offices in a two and three story linear addition located between existing structures.   It is organized with labs on three floors. On the west side, deep-set windows between exhaust chases provide effective shading from the afternoon sun.  Three floors of offices and support spaces are on the east side overlooking a space of trees and grass.
