$11,800,000

This new middle school was designed for phased construction and occupied in August, 2000.  The site is on Albuquerque’s west side with panoramic views of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains to the east.  The school was designed to exploit these vistas, particularly from the Administration Area, Media Center and Cafeteria.  The complex is organized along a central commons that serves as the main circulation and gathering space.  The design was influenced by the materials and colors of traditional New Mexico architecture and blended with forms and materials of a more contemporary time.
