Taft Middle School Phase One Addition
Albuquerque Public Schools
Albuquerque, New Mexico

1997

77,000 sf

$6,600,000

Taft is an established school in an older, semi-rural neighborhood in Albuquerque's north valley and so sensitivity to the area was of great importance.  Building massing along with adherence to dominant local building styles, Spanish Colonial and Territorial, were key in this design.  This project added 77,000 sf and provided general, science, occupational, side-by-side, and music classrooms; library; shop; and cafeteria.  A new two story gallery provides primary circulation and serves as a gathering area.
