Fanning Bard Tatum designed additions and renovations for Jefferson Middle School in 1994 and 2000.  Our 1994 Addition and Renovation design created a new entrance integrated into the mission style of the original structure while providing handicapped accessibility.  Seven regular classrooms and two science labs were added along with renovation of the media center and  computer lab.   Fanning Bard Tatum received an award from the Albuquerque Conservation Association in 1994 for the sensitive renovation of this historic building.

Our design for the 2000 Addition & Renovations focused on three different areas.  The 1958 locker room additions to the original gymnasium will be removed.  New locker rooms will be added between the schools two gymnasiums. Along with this, a new west entry canopy and colonnade will be added to define the main entrance.   Finally, an extensive remodel of the existing cafeteria and kitchen will be completed along with a new adjacent patio and amphitheater to the east.
