2001 25,000 sf new 45,000 sf renovated $4,205, 469

This addition and renovation in a rural community in southern Colorado converted an unused high school into a contemporary middle school.  A new 2000 sf administrative wing provides much needed office space while creating a new sense of entry for the school.  The 25,000 sf classroom addition includes general classrooms, science and technology labs, a computer lab, art room and band and chorus facilities.  The massing of the building responds to the volumes and forms required by these functions.  Materials and forms used on the new additions are incorporated into the renovation of the existing building so the two read as one and blend with the surrounding neighborhood.
