National
Guard Armories
Raton, Gallup, Santa Rosa, Grants and
Clayton, New Mexico
Fanning Bard Tatum has designed armory buildings
around New Mexico over a number of years. While designs have been similar, none are
identical due to differing space needs and site conditions. These facilities required the
highest standards of durability, ease of maintenance, and energy efficiency and all
followed EPA standards for fueling operations. Each facility accommodates battalions of
100 men and share common elements including assembly halls with kitchens, classrooms,
administration. and recruiting offices, and rifle ranges. Vehicle maintenance bays were
incorporated in the Santa Rosa and Grants armories.
