This convention center, located on historic Route 66 on the western edge of Tucumcari, was initiated by the Community Development Department and Lodger's Tax Committee. It was a significant undertaking for this small community, important for business and commercial opportunities it could generate as well as a symbol of growth. Design requirements dictated a strong, attractive, image in spite of a limited budget. The project combined renovating a metal building used as a garment factory and adding a high bay, convention space for 1,000 people. The result is an economical, straightforward, solution offering convention activities along with executive meeting rooms, lobby/display, kitchen, and offices.
