Albuquerque Temple
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
Albuquerque, New Mexico

2000

38,500 sf

$13,400,000

This temple is the first such facility in New Mexico and serves about 80,000 Mormons statewide. With 32,000 sf in a two story building, it provides areas for marriage, baptism, and instruction but does not contain conventional worship space. A service building nearby has another 6,500 sf. A 6% site slope dictated a lower level, west side, entry with primary spaces on the upper floor. With this orientation, the Sandia Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop. The 10 acre site required extensive site development and features a combination of conventional and xeric landscapes surrounding the temple.
