St. Mark's
On-the-Mesa Episcopal Church
Addition and Renovation

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is an
outstanding example of pueblo revival architecture constructed in phases between 1948 and
1952. A primary objective was maintaining the integrity of the original design. The
project addressed several function shortcomings along with code violations. The old
"breezeway" entrance, a bottleneck following services, was demolished and a new
entrance vestibule added. An administrative wing was added with old offices converted to
an adult meeting space and accessible restrooms. Site improvements included a children's
playground, redesign of a courtyard, and renovated landscaping.
